Suddenly, a figure appeared, and I saw it was a man. As he walked towards me, I sat watchful, and realised he stood twice my height at least. He carried a great black blade, and walked past me without pause. I turned, and in his place walked a six-armed figure, each arm carrying a blade. I thought I heard a voice, saying "You alone can choose." The figure kept walking, and vanished.
[Sat Mar 8 21:05:41 2003] : (96) Arkannath: I returned to my vigil, wondering what this apparition meant. Suddenly, I heard the slightest of sounds behind me. It was the whisper of steel on leather, of a knife being drawn from its scabbard. I turned, raising my sword to the defence, and saw instead of the assassin I expected a man carrying two blades, each greater than the weight of my one. He raised his blades, screamed wordless defiance, and attacked.

My blade seemed to dart for the weaknesses in his armour, opening a dozen wounds, but he merely seemed to grow stronger. I defended myself as well as I could, but I was losing the fight. Suddenly, I saw him surrounded by a golden light, and I dropped my sword and held out my hands to him. I laid hold of his arms, and his wounds closed, and there was a blinding flash. I felt myself falling, and knew no more.
